I am a broadly trained archaeologist specializing in the later prehistory of the North American Southeast, especially Mississippian cultures. My research often straddles the boundaries between the ethnographic and the archaeological, drawing heavily on the ethnohistoric records of descendant populations. I also have expertise in folkloristics and classical civilization.
Since 2005, I have been teaching at the postsecondary level full time. I teach a variety of courses that draw on archaeology, sociocultural anthropology, physical anthropology, humanities, folkloristics, and history to explore the human experience.
